Thanks to these colorful badasses for agreeing to be on our Creative Breakthroughs Panel Discussion on February 26th at Flying Pig Improv's new location at 2320 E. Douglas at Grove in Wichita, Kansas. (Parking and entrance in back.)
About the event: One of the common misconceptions about creativity is that many people don’t think of themselves as creative unless they’re making something artsy. But, if you’ve solved a complex problem, imagined possibilities, or used something you learned to change your life, you’re probably more creative than you think. Creativity is not a talent; it is a way of operating - a style of behavior.
Join the Badass Women of Wichita Alliance for a colorful panel discussion with experts on creativity to explore how to develop and expand your imagination, find your muse mindset, and overcome blocks to productivity.
Sponsored by Optometric Billings Solutions, optometricbilling.com, (316) 722-2021 and Flying Pig Improv, flyingpigimprov.com, (316) 833-1889

The registration fee is $10 at the door or in advance.
We are meeting at Flying Pig Improv's new location at 2320 E. Douglas Ave. at Grove, 6 to 8 PM.

Charlotte Martin, artist and teacher
As a child, my hands were always busy. Drawing, making things out of cardboard, gluing, cutting, taping, and stapling were part of my everyday life. Studying art in college helped fuel my confidence as an artist. I discovered new techniques and mediums, each offering a unique avenue for artistic expression. This journey led me to the realization that I was on a path to a lifetime of artistic exploration and expression.
In my own work, I take a narrative approach to the subject matter, with an additive/subtractive style of manipulating the medium. This technique involves both the construction and deconstruction of elements within the artwork. By adding and removing layers, I can abstract the images, creating a sense of depth and complexity. The constructive and deconstructive process is not just a technique but a metaphor for my artistic journey. Just as I build and dismantle elements within my artwork, I have experienced growth and transformation in my own life. Each stage of my journey has contributed to the artist I am today, shaping my perspective and approach to art.
In addition to creating my own artwork, I have also had the privilege of teaching art to others. Sharing my knowledge and passion with students has been a fulfilling experience. It is incredibly rewarding to see their growth and development as artists.
I am grateful for the experiences and opportunities that have shaped me as an artist. Each step has been a vital part of my growth and development. I am excited to continue exploring new ideas and pushing the boundaries of my creativity. Art is not just a profession for me; it is a lifelong passion and a fundamental part of who I am.
As I move forward, I am eager to see how my art will continue to evolve and what new stories I will be able to tell.
